About Us – The Story Behind Sipit.art
Hi, I’m Steven Willems, founder of Sipit.art, father of four, and based in Belgium. My passion for wine, design, and education led me to create unique visual tools and art that help people connect more deeply with what they drink.
How It All Started

The very first draft of the Wine Aroma Map of France, created in 2015 — the result of countless hours of research… and a fair share of tasting.

When you drink something good, you have to inform your friends :)
After earning my Sommelier diploma in 2014, I noticed a common challenge. Many people felt uncomfortable describing what they smelled or tasted in a wine — especially in restaurants or at tastings. Intimidated by others with more experience, they often stayed silent.
To help, I began designing Wine Aroma Maps that visually explain the aromas and flavor profiles of various grape varieties. These maps also show wine regions and appellations, offering an easy, intuitive guide for anyone who wants to enjoy wine more confidently. What started as a tool to support others quickly grew into a passion project — and the beginning of something bigger.
Courses, Consultancy, and TV Work
Alongside my design work, I gave wine courses and served as a wine consultant for the Belgian government. One highlight was creating the Aromakaart Hagelandse wijnen, which mapped local producers and is still used today by tourists and locals exploring Belgian wines.
I was also featured as a wine expert on Belgian television, where I paired local dishes with regional wines to showcase Belgium’s culinary richness.
For several years, my focus remained on educational wine posters. More recently, however, I expanded into decorative design posters, including themes around wine, beer, and cocktails. This shift gave birth to Sipit.art, a creative space where design meets taste, and where knowledge and style come together on your wall.
Together with my companion, I also run cocktailsandshots.com, one of the leading cocktail platforms online, with a combined social following of over 100,000 followers. This broader community inspires us to keep pushing creative boundaries — not just in content, but also in design.
